Protection of personal data

This privacy policy is specific to our law firm and defines how APM-law uses, backs up and protects all the information that you transmit when you use our web site.

What is meant by personal data?

According to article 1 of the Belgian law of 8th December 1992, personal data means “all information concerning an identified or identifiable natural person”. This may be, for example, your name, address, telephone number, national registry number, code, e-mail address, photo, etc.

Furthermore, personal data does not only concern information related to the private life but also data related to the professional or public life of a person. However, only information concerning a natural person and not information concerning a legal entity or association is taken into consideration.

What information is collected and how is it collected?

We collect the personal identification and contact data that you fill in on our quote form:

• Surname
• First name(s)
• E-mail
• Telephone

This data is stored in our database and use for commercial, administrative and operation al purposes where necessary.

Log files and IP address

When you visit our web site, we automatically record your IP address which is automatically recognised by our web server. We use IP addresses to help us administer our web site and to collect demographic data. We do not link IP addresses to physically identifiable people.

Use of cookies

By visiting our web site www.apmlaw.be, you expose yourself to the placement of certain cookies on the hard drive of your computer. Such cookies are only used for statistical purposes. Indeed, we use Google Analytics cookies in order to evaluate the efficiency of our advertising and users’ experiences on our web site. Although Google Analytics effectively carries out recording on our behalf of the information supplied by our web site, we control the use of such data.

If you use the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser

• Dans Internet Explorer, cliquez sur l’onglet Outils (petite roue crantée en haut à droite de votre écran) et cliquez sur ’Options Internet’.

If you use the Mozilla Firefox browser

• In Internet Explorer, click on the Tools tab (the small cog wheel at the upper-right and corner of your screen) and click on ‘Internet options’.
• Select the ‘Privacy’ tab. Click on ‘Advanced’. Choose how internal and third party cookies are managed: Accept/Refuse/Ask. Clicking on ‘Refuse’ in both columns rejects the cookies.
• Click on ‘OK’.

If you use the Google Chrome browser

• Click on ‘Firefox’ in the upper left hand corner of your browser and then click on ‘Options’.
• On the ‘Privacy’ tab, check that the setting ‘Always use private browsing mode’ is checked.
• Click on ‘OK’.

If you use the Safari browser

• Select ‘Preferences’ from the menu (the menu is located on the upper right hand corner of the Safari window and looks like a cog wheel) or click on ‘Safari’ in Settings.
• Click on the ‘Privacy’ tab. Look for the section entitled ‘Cookies and website data’.
• Confirm the action and wait for confirmation that all the cookies have been deleted.

Data security and protection

For APM-law, protection of all information and therefore privacy is an absolute necessity.
We have implemented security measures to enable protection against loss, corruption or alteration of client data in our control.

Each user of our web site may rest assured that APM-law processes his or her personal data in a totally transparent and legitimate way, as explained above. However, under no circumstances can we ensure or guarantee that such loss, improper use or alteration of data will not happen, though we do our utmost to prevent it.

Where is the data stored?

The data that you transmit via our web site is stored on a secure server located in the European Union and more specifically in France, on the premises of OVH.
